What is deep drawn?
The deep draw stamping process begins with sheet steel that we receive as a coil in a pre-specified width and thickness. This raw material is very tightly toleranced to ±0.002". The coiled steel is uncoiled and fed into a specific transfer press depending on the size and shape of the final part.
The first step of the process requires cutting out a flat round or shaped blank, which is then transferred to the next station. Usually, this station takes the flat blank and places it over a shaped punch to draw the flat metal over a die, creating a formed shape.
During subsequent stages, various press forming operations are used to reach a final part configuration, per the customer's engineering specifications.
